WHY

Long hours spent sitting at your computer inevitably take a toll on your body. As you sit and do the same tasks over and over again, the body undergoes excessive stress to certain areas. Unbeknownst to you, tissue damage starts long before you are aware of any problem.

Early on, you may feel fatigued in some spots and if changes are not made, these minor areas of fatigue can cause injury. These musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are injuries to the human body’s musculoskeletal “movement” system made up of the joints, muscles, ligaments, discs, tendons, nerves, fascia, and soft tissues.  They may include headaches, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, disc injury, hip pain, and lower back pain.

Many of these problems are the result of bad posture, repetitive movements, excessive force, and habits that are unknowingly hurting you. There is not a single “cause” of MSD's, but usually, they develop due to a combination of factors that creates the perfect storm. The body becomes injured when the stress to certain tissues exceeds the body’s ability to repair itself.

The good news is that many of these injuries are preventable and the effects of many others can be managed through proper education and work/lifestyle modifications!
